Parenting Needs Inventory
The PNI is an instrument, which aims to establish a “focus” to single out present concerns, demands, concepts and interests, problems, difficulties along child rearing and family living where some intervention or guidance may be necessary. It consists of 100 statements designed to measure four need dimensions of parenting.
Knowledge Dimension focuses on the theoretical content of child rearing, child growth and development and family living.
Family Management Dimension is the need of parents along the development of skills to shape their own and their children’s behavior.
Interpersonal Relations Dimension is the need of parents along interpersonal relationships where the goal is change of concepts, attitudes and behaviors through the intervention of others.
Personal Problems Dimension includes needs of parents along personal problems which warrant special and prolonged counseling relationship in small group or on one to one basis.
